The GTI Writing Program helps young adults living with mental illness come to terms with their diagnosis through storytelling, as writing is — and can be — a cathartic process.

We encourage students to tell their story “their way,” i.e. our goal is to empower young people to find themselves and their voice in a safe, open, and nurturing space. And students may share their experience in a variety of ways, including:

  • Prose
  • Poetry
  • Personal essays
  • Song lyrics
  • Script writing
  • Journaling
